Augusta jobless rate at 10 percent

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor reported this morning that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in metro Augusta rose to 10.0 percent in January, up seven-tenths of one percentage point from a revised 9.3 percent in December, according to a news release. Meanwhile the number of unemployed workers in the area increased to 26,104, up 1,991 from 24,113 in December.
